| Murata Power Solutions Launches Five New Inductor
Ranges To Give Design Engineers Greater Choice |
- Five new series of shielded surface-mount inductors
- RoHS & China RoHS compliance, UL 94V-0 materials and J-STD-020-C reflow across the range
- Inductance values from 0.28”H to 1.0mH
- Top end current ratings from 8A to 11.8A

July 2007, Mansfield, Massachusetts
Murata Power Solutions has increased its portfolio
of surface-mount power inductors with the introduction of five new
series of bobbin format devices. The 4500, 4600, 4700S, 4800S and
4900S series offer a broad range of inductance values and current
ratings to provide design engineers tasked with developing power systems,
the maximum amount of choice for their applications.
The new ranges have a compact design that aids their inclusion in applications
where PCB real-estate is limited and component height is restricted.
All parts feature an integral ferrite shield to reduce electromagnetic
interference (EMI) and are fully compliant with the RoHS directive.
As is the case with the majority of Murata Power Solutions existing
magnetic products, the new inductors also comply with the requirements
of China RoHS.
The 4500 and 4600 series are suitable for power-line filtering applications found in consumer electronics equipment such as desktop computers, LED applications and GPS systems. They are also ideal for use in a wide range of industrial and telecom applications including network hubs, bridges and routers, and high frequency wireless communication devices.
The 4600 series is rated up to 8.7A and offered with inductance values between 0.28”H and 1.0mH. The lower profile 4500 series has the same inductance values and a maximum 8A rating. Both devices have a footprint of 7.3mm x 7.3mm. Overall height is 3.55mm for the 4500 series and 4.55mm for the 4600 series. Operating temperature range is -40șC to +125șC.
The 4700S, 4800S and 4900S are single winding alternatives to the 4700, 4800 and 4900 ranges, all are suitable for use between -40șC and +125șC. These parts have been designed for use in switching power supply and power-line filter circuits. All share the same 12.2mm x 12.2mm footprint and are ideal for any application requiring a high saturation current in a low-profile package. They all offer the same inductance range of 1.0”H to 1.0mH, but are rated with increasing current levels up to 11.8A, as a result of their differing heights (5.0, 6.0 and 8.0mm respectively).
Compliance with UL 94V-0 and J-STD-020-C plus tape and reel packaging are common to all of the new parts.
