| Electrical Engineer – Embedded |

Summary :
Responsible for design, documentation, and integration of digital hardware and software into power supplies as well as qualification of the resulting designs and integration to the customer systems.
|
Responsibilities :
- Embedded Design (hardware and firmware) in support of a Principal or Senior Level Engineer/Designer for Power Supply development projects of various complexities - from kickoff through to manufacturing.
- Develop power management embedded systems for power supply products from customer specifications and hardware engineering team requirements.
- Receive complex design guidance or approaches from Principal or Senior level engineers.
- Ensure technical integrity of the embedded design.
- Strong emphasis on designing, debugging & implementation of assembly or C-based microcontroller firmware and hardware for power management/control/communication functions in Power Supplies
- Develop circuits and perform tests and evaluations for design verification & integrity
- Perform schematic entry, calculations, simulations, and bread-boarding in the design process
- Interface with the customer to communicate technical information.
- May supervise the work of technologists working on the project
- Ensure that the design conforms to corporate engineering procedures.
- Ensure design is documented to ISO9001 procedures.
- Ensure the design meets cost, performance and schedule requirements.
- Write reports to document test results.

Education/Experience:
- Electronics Engineering Degree
- 5-8 years (reference) of experience in analog/power supply design
- Experience in embedded microcontroller/SoC based designs
- Experience in developing/implementing serial communications (I2C, SMBus, SPI, UART) on embedded systems
- Knowledge of analog/mixed signal & signal path circuit and familiarity with associated hardware blocks
- Experience in developing closed-loop control embedded systems an asset
- Knowledge of embedded design as it applies to power supply is a significant asset.
- Good knowledge of microcontroller architecture and familiarity with programming, emulation, & debug tools
- Experience in electronic packaging (high density SMT, PCB layout techniques)
- in product development process
- Familiarity with product qualification requirements.
- Experience in high volume manufacturing requirements (e.g. DFM/testability)
